The AH-64D Apache Longbow is the newest version of the combat-proven AH-64A Apache
and is in production at the BOEING COMPANY in Mesa Arizona (Formerly was Mcdonnell Douglas) . Production
now is increase to 6 a month since march 2000. Boeing has announced a commitment to delivery 1,000 more
Apaches over the next decade. The first AH-64D Longbows for the US Army were delivered in 1997 . The Apache
Longbow is the only combat helicopter in service with the ability to rapidly detect, classify, prioritize and engage
stationary or moving enamy targets at standoff ranges in neary all weather environment. AH- 64D Apache Longbow
have greater weapons accuracy at longer ranges and have ability to fight more effectively at night . The Apache
longbow's advance communications and combat capabilities gives battlefield commanders the ability to more
effective manage the battlefield. The Apache longbow gives the combat pilots an unmatched adventage over
enemy threats through thr integration of the Longbow fire control radar, advanced hellfire missiles and advance
avionics .
The AH-64A Apache, widely used and recognizedas the most
advanced, combat- proven attack helicopter in the world for the past decade, The AH-64D Apache is today's unmatch
and multi-mission combat helicopter. The Boeing produced the AH-64A in mesa, Ariz until 1997. Nex generation
AH-64D apache and AH-64D Apache longbow and some 900 of AH-64As are in service worldwide. The Apache longbow,
the twin- turbine engine , 225 mph Apache was the only combat helicopter in the world capable of routine operations in
daytime or darkness and nearly all bad weather.
The Apache uses laser, infrared and other high technology system
Vision Sensor to find track and attack armored and other targets. Arm with 16 laser guided precission Hellfire missiles, 76 -
70 mm. lockets or combination of both,and a 30 mm.automatic cannon with up to 1200 rounds of high explosive
dual purpose ammunition. US Army Apache helicopters played like a key role in the 1989 action in Panama, where
much of its activity was at night. During Operation Desert storm,AH-64A's were credited with destroying more than 500 tanks.
The AH-64A's advance sensors and sighting system proved effective in removing the cover of darkness from opposing forces.
AH-64A Apachealso have helped keep the peace in bosnia and have been call into service in Albania.
