      The B717-200 is the new member of Boeing family.the airplane was introduced to the world in October 1995 by McDonnell Douglas in the name of MD-95 which was developed from DC-9-30. It has been designed specifically for short hop service, short field operations,and the ability to sustain 8 to 12 one-hour flights every day and day after day. The routes in this market is average 300 miles or less.The B717-200 final assembly is in Long beach division ,california.During the next 20 years,Boeing forecasts a market of more than 2,000 aircrafts with 100 seats for regional market or replace older that less efficient 100-seaters.
     The first B717 rolled out on June 10,1998, and flew the first time on Sept. 2, 1998.The B717 received FAA/JAA certification on Sept.1,1999.The first B717-200 was delivered to airlines on Sept.23,1999.
      The B717's new engine produces more than enough thrust for takeoff performance,it also substantially reduces noise, reduces emissions and fuel burn. The B717 uses advanced flight-deck technology closely related to that the Boeing 777 and equipped with 6 Liquid Crystal Displays .
      15 major supplier-partners in North America and 8 nations in Asia and Europe are working as members of The Boeing team. Suppliers in Asia ,Taiwan supplies empennage; South Korea-Wing and Nose; Japan-Horizontal stabilizer and Pylon.
