 Fighter China FC1 | ||
| FC-1 ( Fighter China 1 ) are manufacturing at Chengdu Aircraft Industry Company. China is developing the
FC-1 (Fighter China 1) is lightweight, multipurpose fighter which based on the designed of MIG-33 . The FC-1 project began after a program to upgrade
China's F-7 fighter ( Super-7 )was canceled. The Super-7 was original a joint agreement project for preliminary design between
CATIC ( China national Aero-technology Import and export Corporation ) and Grumman ( USA ). This agreement was canceled by US
( due to Tiananmen Square crisis ) in early 1990. The FC-1 program began in 1991 with the help of Mikoyan of Russia . It was conceived
originally to respond to both Chinese and Pakistani requirements for modern replacement of Chengdu J-7 and Pakistand need for substitute
for its politically suspended order of F-16 from USA . In 1992 CATIC signed contract with PAC (Pakistan Aeronautical Complex) who also
funded 50% of the project cost. The FC-1 is a compact tailed , delta design with fuselage side mounted air intakes , engine Klimov RD-93 flying control will be fly-by-wire . The cockpit will incorporate a wide angled HUD and color flight displays. The FC-1 will be able to deploy precision-guided ground-attack weapons, including a new chinese-made laser-guided bomb with a range of morethan 20 kms. The aircraft is expected to fly by late 2003 , the aircraft will be equipped with EL/M-2032 fire-control radar supplied by Israel Aircraft Industry. | ||
