| ILyushin IL-96-300 is developed by Russian Aviation Industry . This aircraft was developed from
ILyushin IL-86 ,medium range, wide body. ILyushin IL-96-300 is a long range airliner with features new wings (with winglets), fuselage shortened by 4 meters compared to the IL-86,
a digital EFIS flight deck and fly-by-wire control. The initial model IL-96-300 equipped with Soviet Perm PS-90A engines , most of aicraft that were built delivered to Aeroflot.
The first IL-96-300 flew on September 1988 , received Russian Certification in December 1992 and entering service with Aeroflot the following year.
IL-96-300 resembles the Airbus A-340. Both began development and test flight the planes at about the same time. ILyushin IL-96M, IL-96T(Cargo version), both use foreign made engines. IL-96M/T derivertives from IL-96-300. They have a stretched fuselage (4.76 m.) and equipped with Pratt & Whittney PW2337 engines which increasing fuel economy and reliability and Rockwell Collins flightdeck avionics. IL-96M took a first flight on April 1992. The cost of PS-90A engine is about 4 times cheaper than PW 2337. | ||
