ATR 72

The ATR-72 is manufatured by Aerospatiale Marta from France and Alenia Aerospazio from Italy. The ATR is a high-wing, twin turboprop aircraft. The ATR 72 is derived from ATR42, with its fuselage extended by 4.5 meters to increase the passenger capacity 64-72 seats (ATR42 has capacity only 42-50 seats). ATR-72 aircraft flew for the first time on October 27 1988, followed by the awarding of French and then US certification in late 1989. Entry into service was on October 27, 1989 (ATR-42 flew for the first time on August 16 1984).The ATR72-500 can easily identified by its new 6 blades propeller.with a reduced diameter and slower rotational speed, the Hamilton Standard/Ratier-Figeac 568 F propellers reduced the noise and vibration transmitted to the passenger cabin. The ATR72-500 is powered by two pratt&whitney Canada PW127 F and engine rated at 2750 shp.The ATR72-500 is incorporating the increase volume over head bins .Productivity of the ATR 72-500 is improved from the earlier ATR72-200. versions as the result of increase engine power, significantly extending the payload and range capability. The ATR72-500 previously has been desinated the ATR72-210A . The ATR72-500 can takoff from a runway only 3580 ft (1091 m.) and only 3235 ft (986 m.) for landing at ISA sea-level.
