Boeing 777 | |||
Boeing : The production of B777-300 was authorized on june 26,1995.The formal
authorization"go-ahead' for the program followed by the announcement at paris air show in 1995. The first B777-300 was delivered in june 1998.
B777-300 is streched 33 feet(10 m.)from the initial B777-200 model. As a result,the capacity is increased from 368 to 386 passengers.The price of this
aircraft is approximately 167.5-192.5 million US dollars. The Boeing 777 is the first jetliner to be 100 percent digitally designed using three-dimensional computer graphics. Throughout the design process, the airplane was "pre-assembled" on the computer, eliminating the need for a costly, full-scale mock-up. The airplane is larger than all other twinjet or trijet airplanes and smaller than the 747. VARIANTS: The 777-200 was the first of the family of aircraft in production and entered service in May 1995. The 777-200ER (Extended Range) flies the same number of passengers as the 777-200 but flies longer almost 4000 km. The 777-300 is a stretched version of the 777-200, seating 328 to 394 passengers in a typical three-class seating arrangement. The 777-300ER (Extended Range) was launched in February 2000 and first flight took place in February 2003. Service entry is scheduled for April 2004. The higher fuel capacity, compared to the 777-300, provides a range of 13,335km with 359 passengers. The aircraft will be powered by a new more powerful GE90-115B engine rated at 511kN (115,000lb). The 777-200LR (Long Range) is an ultra long-range version and is designed to be the longest range aircraft in the world and will be in service in 2006. The aircraft program was originally known as the 777-200X and was launched in February 2000. EVA Airways of Taiwan placed the first contract in June 2000 for the purchase of three aircraft and delivery is expected in 2006. The range is 16,970km carrying 301 passengers. The aircraft is powered by two, 489kN engines, type General Electric GE90-110B. Flight Deck : The two-pilot flight deck is fitted with a five-screen electronic flight information system with five, 8in (203mm) colour liquid crystal displays, including two primary flight displays, two navigation displays and an engine indication and crew alerting system (EICAS) display. | |||
