The S-92 Helibus is medium-lift twin-engine helicopter is manufactured by the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. The S-92 Helibus is an evolution of US Army Black Hawk and US Navy Seahawk
helicopters. The S-92 Helibus program was first announced in 1992 but S-92 took its maiden flight in December 1998 at the Sikorsky Development Flight Centre, West Palm Beach, Florida.
FAA certified on December 2002 and EASA/JAA certified on June 2004. The first S-92 was delivered to launch customer Petroleum Helicopters Inc (PHI) in September 2004. This is an international collaborative program involving Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan (Main cabin); Jingdezhen Helicopter Group of China (vertical tail surfaces); Gamesa of Spain (aft transmission tailcone and 'strongback' composite structure); Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation of Taiwan (flight deck and other parts); and Embraer of Brazil (sponsons, fuel cells and gauging systems). Sikorsky contributes gearboxes, rotor blades, transmission and drive system, and performs final assembly. The S-92 Helibus is available in a number of variants. The civil transport version has an airliner-type interior which comfortably seats 19 passengers, powered by GE CT7-8 rated at 1,864 kW (2,500shp). The engines are turboshaft engines with dual channel FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control). The civil S-92 has a metal and composite airframe. The four blades are tapered blade tip sweeps back and angles downward to reduce noise and increase lift. H-92 Superhawk is the military variant seats 22 passengers in folding seats (military) and H-92 has more powerful GE CT7-8C engines, rated at 2,300kW (3,070shp). Cockpit: A Rockwell Collins advanced glass cockpit is equipped with a dual, four-axis automatic flight control system and the highly integrated Avionics Management System (AMS).The AMS includes a maintenance data computer and four 6in x 8in high-resolution, color-active matrix liquid crystal multi-function displays. The system provides management of primary flight and navigation data, a digital map, weather radar, terrain information and engine instrument processing and display | ||
